Muslim World League Chief Discuss Islamic Unity, Interfaith Harmony and Global Cooperation: PM Anwar
PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Alissa, in Putrajaya for discussions on developments in the Islamic world and efforts to strengthen interfaith understanding and global cooperation.

During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on key issues affecting the Muslim world and emphasised the importance of fostering dialogue and mutual respect among people of different faiths and cultures.
Anwar highlighted the success of the recently concluded Third International Religious Leaders Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, which brought together religious figures, scholars, and community leaders from various backgrounds and countries. He described the summit as an important platform for promoting understanding, narrowing differences, and encouraging constructive dialogue among diverse communities.

The Prime Minister said the discussions also touched on Malaysia’s growing role in strengthening ties between the Islamic world and the international community. Sheikh Alissa shared his views on Malaysia’s efforts to serve as a bridge of understanding between the East and the West while promoting moderation and peaceful coexistence.
Anwar expressed appreciation for the Muslim World League’s active role in advancing the values of moderation, peace, and interfaith cooperation at a time when the world is facing increasing conflicts and geopolitical tensions.

The meeting also focused on the current state of the Muslim world and the need to strengthen the ummah through quality education, economic development, mastery of knowledge and technology, as well as the promotion of justice, compassion, and universal humanitarian values.
Both leaders agreed that a more peaceful and stable future can only be achieved through continuous dialogue, mutual respect, and stronger engagement among societies and followers of different religions across the globe.
The discussion reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to promoting moderation, intercultural understanding, and international cooperation as part of its broader vision for global peace and sustainable development.
