KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) has announced that information belonging to some of its customers may have been affected following a cybersecurity incident involving Amadeus, the airline’s third-party flight booking technology provider.

“The incident may have affected certain customer information processed through Amadeus between August 2023 and September 2026,” MAB said in a statement published on its website on Saturday (October 31).

However, the national carrier assured customers that its own information technology systems were not affected and that, so far, there is no evidence suggesting that financial information has been accessed.

“We take this matter seriously and are working closely with Amadeus and relevant parties to investigate the incident and assess its impact.

“As a precautionary measure, we encourage customers to remain vigilant against any suspicious or unsolicited communications, particularly those requesting personal or financial information,” the statement said.

MAB emphasised that the privacy and protection of customer information remain its top priorities, adding that it would provide further updates as more detailed information becomes available.
