KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court has scheduled July 31 to hear any claims from third parties seeking ownership of nearly 3.9 kilograms of gold bullion seized in connection with an ongoing anti-corruption investigation involving the wife of a former Malaysian Army chief.

Judge Suzana Hussin allowed the government’s application to publish a third-party notice in the Government Gazette, inviting any individual or entity with a legal interest in the gold bullion to come forward before the court determines its fate.

The 3.85kg gold bullion was seized from contractor Mohamad Amirul Yusrie Aminorddin @ Ab Kadir, 31, who is reported to be an acquaintance of Salwani Anuar @ Kamaruddin, the wife of former army chief Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.

Should no claimant emerge by the scheduled hearing date, the court may order the assets to be forfeited to the Malaysian government.

The application was approved under Section 41(2) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 after Mohamad Amirul Yusrie’s lawyer informed the court that his client had no objection to the proceedings.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat successfully sought the court’s approval to issue the Gazette notice, paving the way for the forfeiture process to continue.

According to court documents filed on May 4, prosecutors are seeking the forfeiture of the gold bullion under Section 41(1) of the MACC Act 2009.

The seizure forms part of the wider Ops Parasit investigation launched by the MACC on Dec 23, 2025. The operation targets alleged corruption and abuse of power involving a former army chief and individuals linked to him.

Former MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki previously disclosed that total assets seized under the operation were estimated at RM11.4 million. Authorities also froze 75 company bank accounts containing approximately RM32.5 million.

Among the assets confiscated during the investigation were RM4.4 million in cash, RM1.4 million in foreign currencies, a Range Rover SVR valued at RM360,000, and 26 luxury watches worth RM2.3 million.

Investigators also seized jewellery valued at RM294,039, two diamond rings worth RM20,000, approximately 3.7kg of gold bullion valued at RM2.5 million, a 150-gram gold medallion worth RM102,000, and two gold dinars weighing 8.5 grams with a combined value of RM5,780.

The upcoming court hearing is expected to determine whether any parties can establish ownership rights over the seized gold bullion before the government proceeds with forfeiture action.
