Husband Remanded After Allegedly Stabbing Wife 13 Times, Hands Over Folding Knife

KULIM: A man suspected of stabbing his wife 13 times in an incident at Taman Tiram here on Monday has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.

Kulim District Police Chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring said the remand order against the 43-year-old man runs from Tuesday until Sept 21.

“The man has been remanded for seven days until Sept 21 to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.

The media had previously reported that the 39-year-old victim was pronounced dead after she was allegedly stabbed with a folding knife.

According to Syamsul, the suspect later surrendered to the police and admitted to stabbing the victim 13 times – seven times in the chest, five times in the abdomen and once in the right rib area.

He said the folding knife believed to have been used in the incident was also handed over to the police and seized as evidence.

The victim’s body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination.
