US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth Arrives in Malaysia Ahead of ADMM-Plus Summit

SUBANG, Oct 29: United States Secretary of War, Hon. Pete Hegseth, arrived at the Subang Air Base at 9 p.m. tonight, marking the start of his official visit to Malaysia.

He was warmly received by senior officials from Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence and the Malaysian Armed Forces upon arrival.

Hegseth’s visit coincides with the upcoming ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), scheduled to take place on 1 November 2025. The high-level summit brings together defense leaders from ASEAN member states and key dialogue partners to strengthen regional security and cooperation.

During his stay, Hegseth is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Malaysia’s Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, on the sidelines of the ADMM-Plus. The discussions are likely to focus on defense collaboration, regional stability, and strategic partnerships between the two nations.

This visit marks Hegseth’s first official trip to Malaysia since assuming the role of United States Secretary of War, underscoring Washington’s continued commitment to enhancing defense ties with Kuala Lumpur and the broader ASEAN region.
