PM Welcomes Strengthening of IsDB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed efforts to strengthen the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur as a hub for knowledge and expertise sharing.
He said Malaysia is recognised for its experience in empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening economic resilience and creating employment opportunities, with its expertise and experience potentially benefiting other IsDB member countries.
“I also emphasised Malaysia’s readiness to share its expertise and expand development cooperation at the international level,” he said in a post on X today.
Anwar said the matter was raised during discussions with IsDB Chairman Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser today, reflecting continued confidence in the country’s development direction and governance.
“Insya-Allah, this close cooperation will further expand Malaysia’s role as a credible development partner while bringing the expertise of Malaysians to the global stage,” he said.
Launched in 2019, the IsDB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur serves as a strategic platform for transferring technology, expertise and best practices in Islamic finance from Malaysia to the other 56 IsDB member countries.
Headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the IsDB is a multilateral development financial institution established in 1975 to support economic development and social progress in its member countries and Muslim communities worldwide, based on Shariah principles.
