The 2025 budget is a reflection of solid commitment to national development

Kedah UMNO fully supports the 2025 Budget presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim which reflects a solid commitment to the continued development and well-being of the country.

Kedah State UMNO Liaison Board Chairman, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the budget’s focus is on inclusive growth, strengthening the economy and addressing the needs of all Malaysians.

“These are mainly those who are in rural areas and less developed areas.

“Government efforts are people-centered, where help is provided by increasing Mercy Cash Donations (STR) to deal with the issue of the cost of living and increase people’s income.

“So Kedah State UMNO is of the opinion that the 2025 Budget has been better summarized where all phases of the economy are given attention and the people are prioritized,” he said in a statement.

According to Mahdzir, Kedah State UMNO expressed joy with the government’s allocation of RM600 million to the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

He said this provision clearly shows that the Madani Government is prepared and committed to dealing with natural disasters effectively and safeguarding the well-being of the people.

“This is especially in states like Kedah which are prone to floods and other natural disasters,” he said.

In addition, Mahdzir said the emphasis was on strengthening the agricultural sector, which is important to Kedah’s economy, through modernization efforts and support for farmers.

He said the Two-Year Five-Season Rice Planting Project in the Young Agricultural Development Board (MADA) Phase 1 area, which will be started at a cost of RM1 billion with an area of ​​nearly 11,000 hectares will increase productivity and increase search.

“The government’s holistic approach to disaster preparedness, coupled with agricultural development, assures us that the rural community and farmers of Kedah will be better prepared to face the challenges of the future.

“Budget 2025 also provides allocations for the development of TVET, education assistance, health infrastructure, development of entrepreneurs, intensifying promotion and tourism activities.

“The well-being of rice farmers and fishermen, assistance and business financing as well as facilities for hawkers and small traders,” he said.

Mahdzir added, Kedah UMNO also praised the government’s commitment to address the rising cost of living through financial assistance for vulnerable groups and improvements
targeted provision.

However, he said that although the budget allocation is promising, Kedah UMNO appreciates the effectiveness of the delivery system more.

“Current methods, which often rely on outdated bureaucratic processes, can prevent timely distribution and resources.

“We believe it is important to modernize and streamline the delivery mechanism to ensure that the people of Kedah, especially farmers and rural communities, receive benefits without undue delay necessary,” he said.

Mahdzir said Kedah UMNO is committed to working with the government to improve this system so that the budget can be implemented efficiently and its full potential can be realised.

He said Kedah UMNO supports the successful implementation of a budget that recognizes a balanced and strategic approach to drive economic growth while meeting the needs of all Malaysians and ensuring lasting benefits for all citizens.
