KOTA BHARU: The injured victims of the bomb explosion in Tak Bai, Thailand, the day before yesterday, who are currently receiving treatment at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) here, will be given counselling after this.
State Health Department Director, Datuk Dr Mohd Azman Yacob said the victims’ condition is stable.
“At the moment, the hospital is focusing on wounds and injuries caused by the bomb. This will be followed by other supportive treatments such as counselling due to the trauma experienced by the victims.
“Only one victim, namely Abdullah Syarapi Abd Rahman, 45, is still receiving treatment at HRPZ II, while his companion has been allowed to return home yesterday.
“We will monitor the victim’s condition from time to time. The victim sustained a fractured thigh bone injury,” he said when contacted.
Media previously reported that two Malaysians were injured after being hit by a bomb explosion in Tak Bai, Thailand, at 11.40 a.m. the day before yesterday.
The victims, namely Abdullah Syarapi Abd Rahman, 45, and Muhammad Yusri Udin, 38, were said to be on their way back to Kelantan after a holiday in Narathiwat.
The injured victims received treatment at Narathiwat Hospital before being transferred to HRPZ II yesterday morning.
Following the incident, Thai police informed that the bomb explosion was not actually targeting the victims, but rather another vehicle that passed through the same route.
Narathiwat Provincial Police Commander, Major General Prayong Kotsakha was reported to have said that investigations by Thai authorities found that the improvised explosive device (IED) was planted to target another vehicle.
