Recognition of Bukit Mertajam Hospital as Green Hospital Makes Nation Proud – PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the recognition of Bukit Mertajam Hospital (HBM) in Penang as a Green Hospital at the international level is an achievement that makes the nation proud.

Through a post on platform X today, he said the recognition makes the hospital the only hospital in Malaysia listed among the 250 best hospitals in the world for sustainability initiatives.

“This is an achievement that makes the nation proud, when excellence in healthcare services goes hand in hand with the responsibility of preserving the environment and ensuring the well-being of the people.

“Congratulations and well done!!,” he said.

The hospital received the recognition through the World’s Greenest Hospitals 2026 ranking by Newsweek and Statista.

Previously, the Ministry of Health (KKM) informed that HBM was selected after beating thousands of other hospitals from 36 countries in the inaugural edition, which recognises national healthcare institutions for their extraordinary commitment in climate-friendly healthcare and environmental sustainability.
