Police Intensify Hunt for Murder Suspect After Abandoned Getaway Car Discovered in Batu Gajah

IPOH:  Police have stepped up efforts to locate a murder suspect who remains on the run after the vehicle believed to have been used in his escape was found abandoned in Batu Gajah.

Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said authorities discovered the black car by the roadside near Batu Gajah following investigations into the fatal stabbing of a man in Kampung Gajah on Wednesday.

Despite the discovery of the vehicle, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Farizzal Fazly Mohd Zulkifly, has yet to be apprehended.

“The vehicle believed to have been used by the suspect during his escape has been located. However, the suspect is still at large, and police are continuing intensive efforts to track him down,” Hafezul said when contacted on Thursday.

Investigators have also found that the suspect has a prior criminal record, including an offence under Section 379A of the Penal Code involving vehicle theft.

The manhunt follows a violent incident at KM12, Jalan Trans Perak, Kampung Gajah, where a confrontation reportedly escalated into a deadly stabbing.

During the altercation, a 29-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being stabbed multiple times. The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead by a medical officer.

Police have launched a comprehensive operation to locate the suspect and are appealing to members of the public with information on his whereabouts to come forward and assist investigations.

Authorities have assured that all available resources are being deployed to ensure the suspect is brought to justice as investigations into the case continue.
