Kajang Smart City to Speed Up Emergency Response Via Real-Time Data

KAJANG: The Kajang Smart City Command Centre (KS2C) is expected to speed up emergency response times in the administrative area of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) through the integration of various city monitoring data into a single integrated control centre.

Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the RM1.56 million project integrates various information including closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to enable real-time monitoring of city conditions.

According to him, the system provides an advantage in terms of response time as authorities can obtain a visual picture of an incident more quickly before immediate action is taken.

“The good thing is the response time. We can get this visual picture faster and we can act more quickly. There are other uses, but its strategic value is for security, including flood issues in Hulu Langat,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Kajang Smart City Command Centre (KS2C) at the MPKj Tower here yesterday.

According to him, KS2C also enables coordination with relevant agencies through data sharing to assist in action during emergencies such as accidents, floods and security incidents.

He said the data collected through the system can also be utilised for traffic pattern analysis and crowd movement analysis in the future.

“If we want to see patterns of how many people enter Hulu Langat or Kajang on weekends and so on, the data can be used and leveraged,” he said.

Ahmad Fadzli said the development of KS2C will be expanded according to current needs and technological developments to ensure the system remains relevant in the future.

Meanwhile, MPKj President Nazli Md Taib added that the council will establish strategic cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure monitoring and action can be carried out in a more coordinated manner.

“At this initial stage, we will indeed establish strategic cooperation with all agencies under Hulu Langat including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), the Public Works Department (JKR), the fire department and so on.

“From this control centre (KS2C), these agencies will collaborate for the same monitoring using our data as well as their data,” he said.

He said the use of the integrated system will help improve the efficiency of service delivery to residents through more comprehensive information access.
