SEREMBAN: With the campaigning period for the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) having about eight hours remaining, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed confidence that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be able to retain its mandate based on the state government’s track record and the response throughout the campaign.
The Prime Minister, who is also PH Chairman, said that confidence is grounded in the high commitment of the entire PH machinery working until the very last minute, besides the controlled and favourable situation.
“The cooperation of all parties is excellent and we are confident PH will be given the mandate, and subsequently achieve victory.
“Nevertheless, we are not taking the competition from the opposition lightly. The entire machinery continues to work until the last moment to ensure that the people’s support translates into votes.
“Insya-Allah, we are confident of achieving victory,” he told the media after Friday prayers at the Paroi Jaya Village Mosque here today.
Anwar said the main focus at this time is to ensure the voting process takes place in a peaceful, controlled manner and with the cooperation of all parties.
“What’s important is that we focus (on approaching voters) and after that (polling day) ensure everything is under control, through cooperation with all parties,” he said.
Anwar however declined to state the number of seats PH is capable of winning.
“That is entirely up to the decision of the voters. You’ll have to ask Aminuddin Harun (Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar),” he said.
Previously, Anwar stressed that election results are not determined by studies or forecasts alone, but rather depend on the wisdom of the people who turn out to vote.
The 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election involves contests for all 36 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, with polling day set for tomorrow.
The Election Commission (SPR) targets the earliest results for the Negeri Sembilan state election tomorrow to start being known as early as 10 pm, while the full results of the voting process are expected by 12 midnight.
