NS Election: Police, Military Fulfil Early Voting Duty Today

SEREMBAN: The early voting process for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) began at 8 am today at 38 voting centres across the state, involving 16,884 military personnel and 5,455 police personnel and their spouses who are eligible.

All voting centres opened simultaneously at 8 am, while the closing times are set in stages between 12 noon and 5 pm, depending on location and the number of voters.

According to the Federal Government Gazette dated 23 July regarding the setting of voting hours for the state election, 18 early voting centres will close at 12 noon.

In addition, two voting centres will close at 2 pm, while another 18 will close at 5 pm.

Among the gazetted early voting centre locations are the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) Port Dickson; Sendayan Air Base and the Negeri Sembilan State Police Contingent Headquarters in Seremban; Nilai District Police Headquarters and the Syed Sirajuddin Army Camp, Gemas, in Tampin.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecasts good weather across almost all areas in Negeri Sembilan this morning.

Most districts including Seremban, Jempol, Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Tampin and Rembau are expected to be clear throughout the morning until noon, while Port Dickson is forecast to be cloudy.

In the afternoon, most areas in nearly all districts in the state are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The regular polling day on 1 August will take place at 395 polling centres, involving schools, community halls, colleges, sports complexes and public halls.

A total of 867,151 registered regular voters are eligible to vote in this state election.

The 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election sees 36 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats being contested with 103 candidates.
