Melaka State Election: Rafizi Deliberately Raises Corporate Mafia Issue to Divert Attention from Nik Nazmi’s Khalwat Case – Impak Madani

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersama co-founder Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has been accused of deliberately raising the corporate mafia issue to divert attention from the alleged khalwat (close proximity) case involving his ally, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, ahead of the upcoming Melaka State Election.

Impak Madani Welfare Organisation (Impak Madani) adviser John Ooh Sin Hwa claimed that such tactics were characteristic of Rafizi and suggested that he was attempting to prevent Bersama from suffering a heavy defeat in the Melaka polls.

“There appears to be a political tactic behind Rafizi’s actions, as he raised the corporate mafia issue just days after the controversy surrounding the khalwat case linked to Nik Nazmi emerged.

“I believe he brought up the corporate mafia issue to divert public attention, hoping that Melaka voters would not focus on the khalwat case,” he said in a statement today.

Previously, Parti Bersama announced its decision to suspend Nik Nazmi from participating in all official party activities for three months, effective October 20 until January 19, 2027.

Bersama president Syukri Razab said the party considered the decision necessary and reasonable.

Nik Nazmi had earlier confirmed that he was one of two individuals detained by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) in connection with a khalwat incident in Petaling Jaya.

Commenting further, John Ooh claimed that Rafizi’s alleged tactic would not succeed, as information regarding the khalwat case was already widely circulating on social media.

“Regardless of what they do, voters have already seen the moral issues within Bersama, and voters generally will not give victory to leaders embroiled in moral controversies,” he said.
