Ustaz Wadi Annuar Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident
GERIK: Prominent Islamic preacher Ustaz Wadi Annuar sustained injuries after the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a three-vehicle accident at Kilometre 45 of the East-West Highway, near the Air Banun Resettlement Scheme (RPS), Tasik Banding, here early Friday morning.
In the incident, which occurred at approximately 1.30 am, a total of 10 people were involved, with five sustaining injuries while the other five escaped unharmed.
According to an update shared on Facebook, Ustaz Wadi Annuar, who is currently receiving treatment at Gerik Hospital, is reported to be in stable condition, having sustained only minor injuries to his chest and abdomen.
It is understood that he and his team were travelling in a Toyota Vellfire from Gerik to Jeli, Kelantan, when the accident occurred.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said preliminary information indicated that four individuals were travelling in the vehicle, two of whom were injured while the other two escaped unharmed.
“All occupants of the vehicle had been rescued by members of the public before firefighters arrived at the scene,” he said in a statement on Friday.
The other two vehicles involved in the accident were a Perodua Myvi and a Perodua Bezza.
Sabarodzi said the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.40 am.
He said the rescue operation involved 10 personnel, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle and a lorry.
“The operation was brought under control at 4.10 am before being fully concluded at 4.39 am,” he said.
