KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (VoM): Police are still hunting for a suspect who stabbed and shot a police constable before fleeing during a dramatic incident in Simpang Pulai, Perak.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said investigations are ongoing and the case file will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) soon for further action.
“So far, nine individuals, including one woman, have been arrested and remanded to assist with the case. The investigation papers will be handed to the DPP once completed,” he said, as quoted by Harian Metro.
The main suspect who attacked the officer, however, remains at large.
Noor Hisam confirmed that the injured police officer, who holds the rank of constable, is still receiving treatment at the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Earlier reports revealed that nine people were detained for questioning after a woman’s body was found inside a car linked to the incident. All nine have since been released on police bail.
The violent encounter occurred around 1:30 a.m. at an oil palm plantation in Simpang Pulai. The suspect allegedly seized the officer’s service pistol, fired shots, and stabbed the officer before escaping into the night.
Police are now intensifying efforts to track down the suspect, who is considered dangerous.
