PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the government will provide additional funding to Yayasan Restu to support its mission of translating the Quran into another 30 languages, further expanding its global outreach.
Speaking at the launch of the Quran’s Russian translation, Anwar said the initiative builds on the foundation’s existing achievement of producing translations in 30 languages, allowing the Quran’s universal message to reach more communities worldwide.
“With this effort, Malaysia will strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading Quran producers, alongside Saudi Arabia and Egypt, while also cementing its role as a regional leader,” said Anwar, who is also the finance minister.
He noted that during his international visits to countries such as Peru, Brazil, Cambodia, Laos, China, and Russia, he always presents a translated Quran to the respective government, Islamic centers, or local mosques.
Yayasan Restu aims to increase the total number of Quran translations to 60 languages within the next three years with the help of the new government funding.
