KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants (SRG) are determined to immediately address the weaknesses that led to a narrow 1-2 defeat to PRO Esports from Cambodia in the opening match of the Mid Season Cup x Esports World Cup (MSC x EWC) 2026 group stage in Paris, France yesterday.

SRG head coach Michael Angelo Bocado (Arcadia) said he had expected tough competition from the team after studying PRO Esports’ performance in the Cambodian league.

“I have watched their local league and PRO Esports are a very aggressive team, especially in terms of map control.

“So I knew it would be a difficult and very interesting match to play against them,” he said after the match yesterday.

On SRG’s performance, Arcadia said they had opportunities to secure victory but lost due to small mistakes at crucial moments.

“This match was very difficult, we could only bounce back in the first game. The second game was also challenging even though we had a good start before losing in the mid to late game.

“The third game was also difficult in the early stages… so overall it was a very tough match,” he said.

Looking ahead to the next match, Arcadia said SRG will immediately conduct a thorough evaluation to ensure they can bounce back stronger in the remaining group stage matches.

“We need to evaluate every aspect that can be improved, whether it’s the heroes, the draft, or the gameplay patterns. Whatever needs to be done, we will definitely do it,” he said.
