KUALA LUMPUR|| June 27: Malaysia’s national-level Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M celebration takes center stage today at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), with over 8,000 guests expected to attend, including dignitaries from both local and international arenas.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, are scheduled to arrive at 9.30am to grace the event with their royal presence.
Joining the celebration will be Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with both deputy prime ministers, cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats, government officials, participating contingents, and members of the public.
A major highlight of the ceremony will be the Royal Address by His Majesty the King, who will also present the prestigious National and International Ma’al Hijrah Personality Awards.
The event will feature a special tausiyyah (religious lecture) on the theme of hijrah (migration), delivered by Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
This year’s theme, “Membangun Ummah Madani” (“Developing a Madani Ummah”), invites Muslims to reflect on the Prophet Muhammad’s historic migration and to apply its values to build a modern, inclusive, and morally upright society.
In a statement, the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) emphasized that the theme encourages not only physical and societal progress but also the development of individuals who embody strong moral and spiritual values.
“This year’s celebration underscores the spirit of hijrah, reflecting the sacrifices and vision of the Prophet in shaping a community built on sustainability, well-being, creativity, dignity, confidence, and compassion, while celebrating diversity in unity,” the statement said.
Muslims across Malaysia ushered in the Islamic New Year 1447H last night with solemn prayers and spiritual reflection, marked by special gatherings in mosques and prayer halls nationwide.
The event is being broadcast live on TV1 by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and other local networks and is also streamed on Jakim’s official social media platforms.
