PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy call from the Chairman of Dewan Dakwah Islamiyah Indonesia (DDII), Fathurrahman Mahfudz, this afternoon.

Anwar said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Islamic missionary activities (dakwah) in Malaysia and Indonesia, developments in international affairs and the challenges facing Muslim communities today.

He said the longstanding close relationship between the two countries was also rooted in the legacy of prominent Indonesian Islamic figures and statesmen, Mohammad Natsir and Buya Hamka, the latter a renowned Islamic scholar, writer and thinker.

“Both figures contributed significantly to the development of Islamic dakwah and thought across the Malay Archipelago,” he said.

Anwar also expressed his hope and prayers that DDII would continue to guide Islamic missionary efforts and strengthen its charitable contributions through the dissemination of knowledge and assistance to those in need.

“May every effort bring comfort to the weary, hope to the troubled, and lasting benefits to the wider Muslim community,” he said.
