JPJ Names 945 Vehicle Companies With Over RM12 Million in Unpaid Summonses
IPOH: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has named 945 vehicle companies with outstanding traffic summonses amounting to nearly RM12.18 million.
The figure involves 40,595 summonses for various traffic offences, with 940 of the companies operating goods vehicles and the remaining five operating buses.
Among the companies with the highest number of outstanding summonses are KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd with 3,083 summonses, Mainiza Mantap Sdn Bhd (889), Boon Chin Transport Sdn Bhd (767), Syarikat Ehsan Enterprise Sdn Bhd (482) and Tashwin IT Enterprise (321).
For bus operators, Cepat Ekspres Sdn Bhd recorded 199 outstanding summonses, followed by GJG Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd (108), AC Interstate Coach (M) Sdn Bhd (23), Sri Theven Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd (22) and Star Mart Express Sdn Bhd (21).
JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said all the companies were identified between 2023 and 2026 through the nationwide implementation of Op Tegar.
He said the companies have been given 14 days, beginning Friday, to settle their outstanding summonses.
“Vehicles belonging to companies that continue to operate on public roads may be detained and impounded until all outstanding summonses are settled,” he said at a press conference on Op Tegar at the Perak JPJ headquarters here on Thursday.
Also present was JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan.
Aedy Fadly said stern action was necessary as some companies remained defiant despite repeated notices and reminders.
He said common excuses included forgetting about the summonses, being preoccupied with company matters and being unaware that summonses had been issued, while some had simply chosen not to settle them.
“We have called on them to settle their summonses, but some remain defiant. JPJ will no longer compromise after this. There will be no more leniency,” he said.
He stressed that JPJ would continue to intensify targeted enforcement under Op Tegar against vehicle-owning companies and drivers with large numbers of outstanding summonses who have repeatedly failed to settle them.
