Dr Ainul’s Family Urges Media to Stop Reports Based on Unauthorised Sources
SHAH ALAM: The immediate family of Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, 32, has called on all parties to immediately cease any coverage, interviews or publication of information obtained from unauthorised sources or individuals who have not been officially authorised by the family.
Family representative Dr Khairilmizal Samsudin said no detailed statement had been issued by any of the deceased’s lawful next of kin regarding the arrival time of her remains, the ritual washing of the body, scanning procedures or forensic examinations.
He said family members had remained at the location throughout and fully respected the standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as the jurisdiction of the relevant authorities and hospital.
“We confirm that the individual interviewed by the media was not a representative of the family, and we categorically deny the authenticity of the information provided.
“The family strongly urges the media to take down or delete any previous reports, videos or articles based on information provided by the irresponsible individual concerned.
“We ask that any verification be sought directly from the deceased’s authorised next of kin to ensure the accuracy of reports and to safeguard the privacy and dignity of the deceased and her family,” he said on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) reported that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, had crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport).
Those killed were pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30; medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah; medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, 31; and nurses Debra Moset, 40, and Jessie Paya Jok, 44.
Elaborating, Khairilmizal said the individual interviewed by the media had allegedly provided various pieces of information that were inaccurate, misleading and unverified.
He said the situation had caused additional mental and emotional distress to the grieving family, who were also managing the official procedures in Miri.
“As officially stated by the deceased’s father, the funeral arrangements will only be finalised and carried out in Kelantan once all official procedures have been completed.
“Our family deeply regrets and is disappointed by the actions of certain media practitioners who aired interviews and provided a platform to irresponsible individuals claiming to be close family members of the late Dr Ainul merely to attract attention,” he said.
