PUTRAJAYA: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a fruit and vegetable wholesale, import and export company has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a fraud case related to the purchase of a durian orchard worth approximately RM1.65 million.

The male suspect, in his 50s, was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at around noon on Monday while giving a statement at the MACC headquarters here.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have committed the alleged offence in February 2024.

However, the purchase of the durian orchard is believed to have never taken place.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

The suspect is expected to be charged at the Shah Alam Court on Tuesday morning.
