I took on rent responsibilities at eight, says Aedy Ashraf
KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Aedy Ashraf, who became a child star at the age of six, began paying the monthly rent for his single mother around that time. In a recent interview, the 31-year-old star of *War On Terror: KL Anarki* shared, “By six, I was already earning money from acting, and two years later, my mother entrusted me with the responsibility of paying our home’s rent.”
Aedy reflected on his career, saying, “When I turned 19, producers were unsure how to cast me; I was too mature for teenage roles but too young for adult ones. At that point, I felt my acting career was nearly over.”
After completing his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, Aedy chose to step away from the entertainment industry and pursued a career in insurance to support his family. “I lost my passion for acting for a year, but eventually changed my mind when a production company offered me a promising role in a drama,” he explained.
“Since then, I’ve rekindled my love for acting, and today, I’m committed to pursuing it for as long as I can.”
