Syed Saddiq’s Gratitude Run Raises Over RM50,000 On First Day

KUALA LUMPUR: The first day of the Gratitude Run organised by Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, managed to collect RM54,692, thus nearing the target of RM200,000 set earlier.

In a video shared, Syed Saddiq described the reception received throughout the running route from Putrajaya to Salak Tinggi before ending in Labu as truly extraordinary, with people willing to wait by the roadside to show their support for him.

He admitted to being surprised by the presence of supporters, especially in Labu, where thousands of people were still waiting until late at night.

“Throughout the journey from Putrajaya to Salak Tinggi, there were people waiting by the roadside to give encouragement, extend their hands and pray for us.

“But when we arrived in Labu, I never expected to see a sea of people still waiting even though it was already night. I may be the one running, but this journey is driven by all of you,” he said.

Earlier, Syed Saddiq began his Gratitude Run mission of approximately 170 kilometres from the Palace of Justice compound, Precinct 3, heading to Muar, Johor, as a sign of gratitude after going through a long struggle to clear his name and dignity.

The four-day run mission also carries a welfare goal, with a target of raising RM200,000 to help residents in the Muar Parliamentary constituency.

He said that the run is also an expression of appreciation for the country’s judiciary after facing charges for six years before successfully clearing his name.

“This is where I regained my dignity and integrity and cleared my name after six years of fighting for justice.

“The funds raised through this run will be used to purchase iPads for students who are about to pursue their studies at higher education institutions, as well as to provide food baskets to those in need,” he said as reported by the media.

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq said that the journey to raise funds has just begun and hopes that more people will come forward to contribute at lariankesyukuranmuar.com and achieve the set target.
