KUALA LUMPUR: The corporate sector’s commitment to helping those in need continues to be strengthened through the donation of seven laptops to asnaf students of the Bachelor of Property Management programme at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam.

The corporate social responsibility programme was implemented by Ameran Motor to help students in need to study without facing any obstacles that could hinder their pursuit of success.

Ameran Motor Corporate Executive Director, Azman Hazizi, said for most graduates, convocation marks the end of their journey as students, but for him as an alumnus, his connection with UiTM has never been severed.

“This CSR programme serves as the beginning of Ameran Motor’s long-term aspiration to strengthen collaboration with higher education institutions in producing graduates ready to enter the workforce.

“This programme holds a sentimental value that is difficult to describe because UiTM is the institution that formed the foundation of the character, knowledge and leadership principles that I hold to this day.

“I have always believed that education is the most valuable investment. Whatever I have achieved today began with the opportunity to gain knowledge at this university, and it is now my responsibility to give back and open more opportunities for the generation after me,” he said at the Laptop Handover Ceremony to Asnaf Students at UiTM Shah Alam today.

Also present were UiTM Faculty of Built Environment Dean, Dr Emma Marinie Ahmad Zawawi and Ameran Motor Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Datuk Ameran Ismail.

Azman, who is also a UiTM graduate with a Bachelor of Planning and Surveying eight years ago, said the CSR programme aims to share blessings and open more opportunities for the next generation.

Ameran Motor, which is headquartered in Segamat, Johor, began operations in 2002 in the import automotive industry.

Meanwhile, a recipient of the donation, Muhammad Izzadi Zulkarnain, 24, expressed his gratitude as the laptop he received greatly helps facilitate his learning.

The fourth-semester Bachelor of Estate Management student said previously he had to borrow a friend’s laptop after his own laptop was damaged when its battery exploded.

“I was informed by my lecturer about the laptop assistance for students in need, and alhamdulillah, I was chosen.

“Previously, I did not have my own laptop. I only borrowed a friend’s laptop to complete assignments and reports, so it was quite difficult to study,” he said.

Meanwhile, Emma Marinie said UiTM extends its appreciation to Ameran Motor for their concern in sharing blessings with students in need.

She said UiTM’s Faculty of Built Environment has more than 5,600 students, with approximately 4,000 students at the Shah Alam campus and over 1,600 more at the Puncak Alam campus.

“As the largest faculty at UiTM, approximately 70 per cent of students come from the B40 group, and there are also many students in the asnaf category who need assistance.

“All forms of donations received will be channeled to students who are truly eligible based on university records. UiTM also continuously maintains close ties with the industry to open more collaboration opportunities, including helping the welfare of students who will become professional talent in the industry,” she said.
