SEREMBAN: Hawkers and small traders, including food truck operators and Ramadan bazaar vendors, are exempted from license fees with local authorities (PBTs) for one year starting 1 January next year.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, said the exemption only involves business license fees, while other related charges such as processing fees, stall licenses, advertising board charges, cleaning fees, and site rentals still need to be paid according to the rates set by the respective PBTs.

“This matter was decided in today’s State Government Meeting (MMK) as an initiative to help lighten the burden of hawkers,” he said.

With the exemption, Ismail urged hawkers to make the most of it responsibly by maintaining cleanliness and safety in their business areas, not obstructing traffic, not trading at road junctions or in front of fire hydrants, and not blocking pavements and stairways.

In another development, Ismail said the state government also immediately suspended the implementation of the RM3 Conservation Fee for entry into the Eco-Forest Parks in Negeri Sembilan.
