“Don’t disturb, respect component partners in the Unity Government – Zahid”
KUALA LUMPUR: The President of Umno and Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, urged leaders within his party not to disturb and instead to respect their component partners in the unity government.
According to the Wilayahku portal, he also stated that Pakatan Harapan (PH) does not need to apologize to Umno, considering the call by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed previously as a personal statement.
“As long as the party president or party leader does not make any statements, those statements are personal in nature.
“There is no need to apologize; do not disturb the component partners within the unity government parties,” he said.
He made these remarks during a press conference after attending the closing ceremony of the NADMA Friends Convention, “Malaysia Madani, Disaster Preparedness.”
Previously, Nur Jazlan had urged PH to publicly apologize to Umno for all the allegations, accusations, and perceptions that he claimed had been “created over the decades,” which led to the party being viewed unfavorably by voters.
Zahid also stated that, for now, all parties must maintain the unity of the government.
“Earlier, before and after the Cabinet meeting, I met with the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“We set aside our differences of opinion and must move forward to establish good cooperation in the by-elections (PRK) and the general elections (PRU).”
