Helicopter Crash: Victims’ DNA Results Obtained, Remains to Be Released Today
MIRI: DNA test results for the five victims of the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang have been obtained, and their remains will be released to their families today, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.
He said the remains would be handed over to the victims’ next of kin once all the necessary documentation had been completed.
“Today, we will release the victims’ remains. Once the documentation process is completed, the remains will be handed over to their families,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
Meanwhile, the respective families are making funeral arrangements for three of the five victims.
The remains of assistant medical officer Alexson Adit Henry will be laid to rest at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir following a religious service at the Good Shepherd Church in Lutong at 9am this Tuesday.
His sister, Annastasia Luyah, said in a Facebook post that a final tribute would be held on Monday at their family home in Taman Desa Senadin here.
Final respects for the two nurses will be held separately, with Jessie Paya Jok’s ceremony taking place at Taman Wang Lusut here and Debra Moset’s at Kampung Semadang in Padawan, Kuching. Their burial dates have yet to be announced.
Tuesday’s crash claimed the lives of all five people on board the BO-105 helicopter operated by Layang-Layang Aerospace after it went down near the end of the Long Lellang STOLport runway at about 3.40pm.
Apart from Alexson, Jessie and Debra, the other victims were pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30, and medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, 33.
Dr Ainul Baraah is expected to be buried at the Sri Kedeper Muslim Cemetery in Kelantan, while Zainol Afiq will be laid to rest in Negeri Sembilan.
Yesterday, Mohamad Zainal said post-mortem examinations on all five victims were completed at the Miri Hospital Forensic Department at 7.30pm on Thursday, while the DNA analysis was expected to be completed today.
