Worker Killed After Motorcycle Collides with MPV

TEMERLOH: A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at Kilometre 138 of the Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan road here on Friday.

In the accident, which occurred at about 8.40pm, the victim, K. Paramasivan, 48, of Jalan Mempateh, Lanchang, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the 41-year-old driver of the Perodua Alza MPV was unhurt.

He said preliminary investigations found that the victim, who was riding a Modenas 110 motorcycle, was believed to have been travelling from Lanchang towards Jalan Jelutong, Mentakab.

“The MPV driver was travelling home from Temerloh to Batu 7, Lanchang.

“Upon reaching the scene, the victim’s motorcycle is believed to have skidded into the opposite lane before colliding with the MPV,” he said.

Mohd Nasyim said the impact threw the victim, who worked as a labourer, onto the MPV’s windscreen before he fell onto the road and was dragged for about 20 metres.

“The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident.

“His body was taken to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS) here for a post-mortem examination,” he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
