PETALING JAYA: Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee is set to contest the Pengkalan Batu State Legislative Assembly seat once again after being named among eight Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) candidates for the upcoming Melaka State Election.
The party’s list of candidates was announced by Bersatu Vice-President Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin at an event held at Baitul Tariq, Klebang, tonight.
Apart from Pengkalan Batu, the seven other seats Bersatu will contest are Klebang, Lendu, Gadek, Sungai Udang, Pantai Kundor, Ayer Keroh and Bemban.
Norhizam, who is also the former Bersatu Hang Tuah Jaya Division Deputy Chief, will once again attempt to win the constituency he previously represented after securing the seat on a DAP ticket in the 14th General Election (GE14).
The politician, popularly known by the nickname “YB Beliau”, subsequently contested as an independent candidate in the 2021 Melaka State Election.
Meanwhile, Bersatu Melaka Election Director Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamed has been selected to represent the party in the Klebang state constituency.
Mohamad Ali’s candidacy is expected to turn the seat into a three-cornered contest, as he will face Tangga Batu Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Chief Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir, who is representing Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The seat’s incumbent, Datuk Lim Ban Hong of Barisan Nasional (BN), will also be defending his position.
