Hakim Danish Qualifies for Q2 at Malaysian GP
SEPANG: National Moto3 rider Hakim Danish Ramli maintained his consistent performance after finishing fourth in the practice session, securing a place in Qualifying 2 (Q2) for the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (GP) at the Sepang International Circuit here tomorrow.
The 19-year-old rider, representing the AEON Credit MT-Helmets MSi team, recorded a lap time of 2 minutes 11.573 seconds (s).
Spain’s David Almansa of Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP set the fastest time of 2:11.427s, while Tech3 Racing rider Rico Salmela of Scotland finished second (2:11.496s), followed by Indonesia’s Veda Pratama of Honda Team Asia in third place (2:11.519s).
Hakim Danish’s result gives him an opportunity to secure a better starting grid position in Q2 ahead of Sunday’s main race without having to compete in Q1.
Hakim Danish, who made his debut as a full-time rider in the Moto3 World Championship this season, has already secured two podium finishes in Mugello, Italy, and Brno, Czech Republic.
If the Terengganu-born rider manages to secure a strong grid position in tomorrow’s Q2 session, his chances of claiming a third podium finish in front of his home supporters will be significantly boosted.
