KUALA LUMPUR: The government is focused on finding solutions to improve air quality in Kuala Lumpur, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr. Zaliha Mustafa.

According to the Wilayahku portal, she stated that this issue was discussed in a meeting chaired jointly by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, the Minister of Health, and the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories).

“This meeting was held to address issues and initiatives related to air quality in Kuala Lumpur, considering that air quality can impact health as well as contribute to development and foreign investment,” she said on Facebook.

Zaliha also mentioned that the meeting agreed to consider extending the ‘Car Free Morning’ program to a new name, such as ‘Car Free Day’ or ‘Car Free Weekend’.

She explained that vehicle emissions are one of the main contributors to air pollution.

“Although the air quality index in Malaysia was recorded as the best in Southeast Asia according to the latest readings on August 29, there is still room for improvement.

“This is part of the effort to realize the aspirations of CHASE City in all three Federal Territories,” she said.
