1,000 attendees at Maran’s National Day celebration, event held in splendor
MARAN: The 67th Independence Day celebration at the district level in Maran was held in grand style today, with 1,000 attendees present.
According to the Chief of UMNO Maran Division, Datuk Seri Shahaniza Shamsuddin, the event featured a variety of interesting activities, including displays of land and water assets from government agencies and bodies.
The celebration also included a parade with 38 contingents from government bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), public higher education institutions, and school uniformed bodies.
“There were various styles in the parade, and the cultural performances from each ethnicity were all delightful.
“Independence has a far greater meaning beyond just performances and parades. It requires sacrifice and an unwavering love for the homeland,” she said.
Shahaniza, who is also a member of UMNO’s Supreme Council, mentioned that the Independence Day celebration is a mandatory event for each district organized by the state government.
She noted that in Maran district, the event was organized by the Maran District Office and the Maran District Council.
Meanwhile, Shahaniza observed that this year’s 67th Independence Day celebration in Maran was more vibrant compared to previous years.
“Many people arrived early, starting from 8 a.m., to witness the parade.
“The state government provided prizes. Although the prizes were not substantial, the important thing is the unity, cooperation, and consensus evident among government departments, NGOs, and the public who participated,” she said.
Shahaniza added that this year’s Independence Day celebration was not just an event but an opportunity to immerse in the spirit of freedom.
She hoped that negative issues, especially those related to religion, race, and the institution of the monarchy (3R), would not become a source of controversy within the community.
Also present at the Maran Independence Day celebration were Maran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail Abd Muttalib, and representatives from the Pahang state government.
