PUTRAJAYA: The 67th National Day celebration with the theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka’ will take place at Dataran Putrajaya, starting from 8 a.m. today for public viewing.
According to Bernama, every year, people from all backgrounds, races, and religions come together for the common purpose of igniting patriotic spirit.
This year’s celebration is highlighted by the arrival of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, along with the presence of the Cabinet ministers and foreign dignitaries.
The highlight of the event includes a parade and procession featuring more than 17,000 participants, 59 contingents, 24 marching bands, and 439 military assets.
A unique feature of this year’s celebration is the Community Contingent of Malaysia MADANI, led by the Ministry of National Unity, showcasing complete ethnic attire with accessories to symbolize the cultural diversity of the nation.
The distinctiveness of this contingent is highlighted through special equipment and performances symbolizing community unity, including kompang groups, chingay, dragon and lion dances, peacock dances, horse parades, and Bajau warriors, adding vibrancy to this year’s celebration.
In addition, the strength of various agencies such as the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysian Air Force, Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency will be showcased to reflect the readiness of the security forces in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
A dance performance titled ‘Cuci Rasuah’ will also be presented as the closing act, reflecting the Unity Government’s commitment to combating corruption.
