Paris, June 17, 2025 — The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly in Paris has granted final approval to Expo 2030 Riyadh’s Registration Dossier, officially confirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the host nation for the prestigious global event.
During the assembly, the World Expo flag was ceremonially handed over to the Saudi delegation, symbolizing the kingdom’s formal designation as host of the upcoming World Expo. The event marks a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s journey toward delivering an Expo that aligns with the ambitious objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Kingdom’s delegation was led by Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, and Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). He was joined by Ambassador Fahad bin Mayouf Al-Ruwaily, Saudi Arabia’s envoy to France, along with other high-ranking officials.
Blueprint for a Global Showcase
The approved Registration Dossier serves as a detailed blueprint for the Expo, outlining Saudi Arabia’s commitment to hosting an innovative, inclusive, and globally collaborative event. Its swift approval—achieved in nearly half the standard timeframe—reflects the professionalism and preparedness of the Kingdom’s organizing teams.
Speaking at the assembly, Eng. Al-Sultan expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister of the Kingdom, for their steadfast support.
“The approval of the Registration Dossier in record time highlights the Kingdom’s leadership on the global stage and underscores the world’s confidence in Saudi Arabia’s vision and capabilities,” said Eng. Al-Sultan. “This milestone marks a significant step forward in the Kingdom’s journey to deliver an exceptional and unprecedented edition of the World Expo.”
Riyadh’s Vision for Expo 2030
Set to run from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, Expo 2030 Riyadh is expected to be one of the largest and most impactful editions in the history of the Expo movement. The event will be held on a six million square meter site, specially designed to welcome over 40 million visits, featuring advanced infrastructure, sustainable technologies, and world-class hospitality services.
More than 195 nations are expected to participate, with formal invitations now being extended through diplomatic channels. The event promises to be a global platform for innovation, knowledge exchange, and future-forward thinking.
