June 19, 2025, Madinah— The Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah’s 100 doors are wonderful representations of Islamic tradition, fine craftsmanship, and the centuries-long care given to the holy monument. These doors represent the architectural, cultural, and spiritual significance of one of the holiest places in Islam and are more than just practical constructions.

The Prophet’s Mosque’s doors, which stand out for their exquisite workmanship and imposing appearance, are a reflection of the fundamental Islamic principles of hospitality, harmony, and openness. These doors subtly offer warmth and grace to guests regardless of their look, language, or heritage.

Masterworks of Devotion and Design
Every door demonstrates how cutting-edge engineering and traditional Islamic aesthetics may coexist. They provide a visual representation of the mosque’s artistic heritage and historical character through intricate engravings and architectural details.

The doors built during the historic enlargement project headed by the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, are among the most recognizable. This enormous project added seven primary entrances: two on the eastern and western facades and three on the northern side. Each of these doors leads to a group of seven enormous doors, two of which are separated and five of which are arranged next to each other.

The doors are designed for smooth operation despite their massive size (3 meters wide, 6 meters high, 13 cm thick, and weighing about 1.25 tons). They have an advanced internal mechanism that allows them to be effortlessly opened and closed with just one hand.

Made on Different Continents
More than 1,600 cubic meters of premium teak wood, which is renowned for its strength and rich look, were used to construct the doors. Each door features more than 1,500 pieces of gold-plated copper, carved with the name “Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah Almighty” and a circular symbol.

This remarkable manufacturing process involved international cooperation:

We acquired and assembled the teak wood in the United States.

To ensure lifespan, the drying process was conducted in specialized kilns in Barcelona, Spain, over a period of five months.

The copper parts underwent polishing in France.

To preserve traditional Islamic woodworking processes, the final assembly and decorating included laser-cutting, polishing, gold plating, and careful interlocking procedures. We completed all these steps without the use of nails.

A Legacy That Lives On
The Prophet’s Mosque’s doors are still more than just useful entrances today; they are works of living art that combine respect for the past with contemporary creativity. In addition to improving the experience for millions of worshippers and tourists, their construction shows a dedication to conserving Islamic heritage.

The doors’ intricate carvings and curves convey a tale of faith, artistry, and a persistent dedication to hospitality and beauty in the center of Madinah.
