Foreigner Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Teenage Girl in Rawang

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a foreign national suspected of molesting a teenage girl in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang, following a report lodged by the victim.

Hulu Selangor district police chief, Superintendent Ibrahim Husin, confirmed that the arrest was made shortly after police received the report around 3pm on Sunday.

“The 21-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters, thanks to a tip-off from a member of the public,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He added that preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

The suspect has been remanded for three days beginning Tuesday (Aug 5) until Thursday (Aug 7) to facilitate further investigation under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities immediately to help prevent such incidents in the future.
