Anwar arrives in Brunei for working visit

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan last night for a two-day working visit in conjunction with the 25th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-25) between Malaysia and Brunei.

He said that ALC-25, which will take place at the Istana Nurul Iman today, is the highest bilateral mechanism between Malaysia and Brunei.

“This visit reflects the commitment of both parties to further enhance bilateral cooperation in achieving common goals, as well as to discuss related issues,” he said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Azman Abidin is also accompanying Anwar on the working visit to Brunei.

He mentioned that during the visit, Anwar is accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan; the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz; the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir; and the Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek.

Also welcoming Anwar was Brunei’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs II, Dato Seri Setia Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof.

Today, Anwar is scheduled to meet with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei for a private audience at the Istana Nurul Iman.
