KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil welcomed Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) intention to challenge the results of the Nenggiri by-election, in which they lost to Barisan Nasional (BN) on August 17.

He stated that if PN wishes to contest BN’s victory in the Nenggiri by-election, they should follow legal procedures.

“If they can’t move on, they should follow the process. Even the President of Bersatu (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) seems not to have moved on,” he said.

He made this statement after the Pentarama and Malaysiaku Club program in conjunction with the National Month 2024 celebration at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Pantai.

It was previously reported that PN is gathering evidence to file an election petition to challenge the victory of the BN candidate in the Nenggiri state assembly by-election.

Bersatu Kelantan Chairman Datuk Kamaruddin Md Noor said the evidence involves allegations that BN engaged in bribery and threatened voters during the two-week campaign period.

Previously, Tan Sri Annuar Musa claimed that PN’s candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail lost in the Nenggiri by-election because PN chose not to engage in corrupt practices, money politics, and abuse of power.

He noted that PN also rejected the misuse of state assets and machinery in Kelantan.
