IWK uses ‘Jettor’ in search and rescue operation for sinkhole victim
KUALA LUMPUR: Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) is using a ‘jettor’ to break up debris in the search for an Indian woman who went missing after falling into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India last Friday.
According to Berita Harian, the debris breakdown operation started from the sinkhole location and extended to the downstream sewer manhole, which is 69 meters away.
The Media Unit of the Corporate Planning Department of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) reported that the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the Indian woman is ongoing with the involvement of various agencies.
It was noted that inspections are also being conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) at the IWK Pantai Dalam Plant.
“In the meantime, IWK will be breaking up debris using a jettor along the sewer line from the incident site to the downstream sewer manhole, a distance of 69 meters.
“IWK has carried out flushing in the sewer manhole five starting late last night until 2 a.m.,” it said.
However, IWK has not yet found any clues.
“The public is advised to stay away from the incident area to ensure the smooth execution of the search by the SAR team,” it added.
