RM1 Million Additional Allocation for Every Parliamentary Constituency, Direct to the People
AYER KEROH: The Federal Government has approved an additional allocation of RM1 million for every parliamentary constituency nationwide, which will be channelled directly to help the people and address urgent projects and needs in their respective areas.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the additional allocation proves that the Madani Government has never reduced allocations to parliamentary constituencies, but instead continues to find ways to increase assistance to the people without excessive bureaucracy.
According to him, this approach allows the needs of the people at the grassroots level to be addressed more quickly, particularly involving welfare assistance, basic facilities and local issues.
“Allocations have never been reduced. In fact, today I want to announce, for every parliamentary constituency, directly to the people, I announce an additional RM1 million for every parliamentary constituency,” he said, who is also PKR President.
He said this when delivering his Closing Speech at the PKR National Congress 2026 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), here, today.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the additional allocation complements the various existing government social protection programmes, including the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), which altogether amount to up to RM16 billion.
He said, the effort to eradicate poverty and reduce the burden of the people’s cost of living remains the government’s priority, besides showing results as the hardcore poverty rate has now been successfully reduced to 0.09 percent.
“The translation of macroeconomic success into microeconomics is through programmes that champion the welfare of the people.
“Whether B40 or M40, school assistance, Rahmah Sales and housing financing support are provided comprehensively without marginalising any race,” he said.
In that regard, he urged the leadership and machinery of PKR at the branch and divisional levels to go down to the ground to explain the various government initiatives and ensure that the assistance provided truly reaches the people.
Anwar said, this effort is important so that the people understand the benefits provided by the government and do not miss out on receiving their rightful assistance.
