KOTA BHARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will invite Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to its emergency meeting scheduled for Sunday, following a court decision granting a stay on the notice issued by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) against the coalition, said PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

According to him, Bersatu has already been informed of the invitation, while the official invitation letter is expected to be issued on Saturday.

He said this after attending the Ummah Unity Gathering and Prayer Assembly (Himpak), held in conjunction with the Kelantan People’s Carnival celebrating 36 Years of Developing with Islam (MBI), at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here on Saturday night.

Takiyuddin explained that the meeting, which will be held at PAS headquarters, will discuss several matters, including the coalition’s status and preparations for the upcoming Melaka State Election.

He added that the position of component parties would also be discussed, including Bersatu, which is understood to have already selected its seats and decided to use its own logo.

“That matter will be discussed at the meeting if they (Bersatu) attend,” he said.

Takiyuddin said the court’s decision to stay PN’s suspension and cancellation had allowed the coalition to resume its activities and hold meetings as usual.

“Previously, a notice dated September 23 directed that all PN activities be suspended.

“The only exception was activities related to responding to the show-cause notice issued by the RoS. Based on yesterday’s court decision, PN is now permitted to hold meetings and carry out its activities.

“With the stay order on the suspension and cancellation in place, PN can now carry out its responsibilities, activities and meetings as usual,” he said.
