PAS Muktamar: “Let There Be No Invisible Hands to Thwart Ummah Unity” – Nasrudin Tantawi

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS hopes that there will be no more “invisible hands” trying to thwart the ummah unity agenda by provoking discord.

Former Temerloh Member of Parliament, Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi, said the unity efforts being built should not be destroyed by those acting as provocateurs.

“I hope this time it truly succeeds and we make it happen, insya-Allah. I hope there will be no more provocateurs burning the bridges we have built.

“I hope there will be no more invisible hands playing tricks to thwart this unity agenda,” he said when speaking at the 72nd PAS Annual Congress in Kota Bharu today.

Nasrudin said the ummah unity agenda is not merely a political strategy, but rather a religious obligation that must be implemented by consolidating strengths based on agreed-upon matters.

According to him, differences must be managed with knowledge, decorum and wisdom without compromising the party’s struggle principles.

At the same time, he also reminded PAS members, leaders and supporters not to turn social media into a battlefield of division that could undermine the unity efforts that have been built over time.

“Do not let our desire to win an argument against netizens on social media cause us to lose a thousand hearts that are drawing closer to the Islamic struggle we champion,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nasrudin said PAS is ready to open its doors to those who have previously been with the party, left it, or held differing views.

“To those who were once with us, this door is open. To those who once left us, this door is open.

“To those who once held differing views from us, this door is also open.

“As long as there is room for us to sit together for the sake of Islam, for the ummah, for the nation, let us not be the ones who close that door,” he said.

He said PAS needs to emerge as a bridge that connects various groups, including scholars, Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs), professionals, youth, religious figures and community activists.

The motion to strengthen the ummah unity agenda, presented by the PAS Central Ulama Council, was subsequently adopted unanimously by the delegates.
