Teen Girl Gives Birth in Secret, Dumps Newborn Behind House in Gerik

IPOH: Police have discovered the body of a newborn baby boy behind a house in RPS Kemar, Gerik, after an 18-year-old girl allegedly gave birth in secret and disposed of the infant.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the case came to light when staff at a local health clinic lodged a report after the teenager sought treatment for excessive bleeding around 5.30pm on Sunday.

“Initial medical examination revealed a severe tear on her private parts. Upon questioning, she admitted to giving birth alone at home and dumping the newborn behind the house,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth and secretly disposing of the body, which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Comm Noor Hisam stressed that the police take such cases seriously and urged the public not to engage in actions that violate the law.
