PETALING JAYA: More than RM50 million was disbursed on the first day of the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) Appreciation Programme, according to the Finance Ministry.

The ministry said public response to the initiative had been very encouraging, with around 850,000 eligible Malaysians successfully utilizing the one-off assistance by 9:30pm on Sunday.

However, the ministry acknowledged there were some processing delays due to a system glitch caused by an exceptionally high volume of transactions.

“We, together with the MyKasih Foundation, have taken steps to increase our system’s capacity to ensure smooth transactions starting Monday (Sept 1),” the ministry said in a statement.

It added that scheduled system maintenance would be carried out on Sunday night to maintain stability.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will continue to closely monitor the system to ensure this initiative is implemented smoothly,” the ministry said.
