KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — The Ihsan Madani initiative embodies the spirit of compassion and shared responsibility in ensuring educational opportunities for all, said Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Speaking at the Ihsan Madani Contribution Ceremony for Secondary School Students in Bandar Tun Razak, held at Komune Living & Wellness here today, Dr Wan Azizah said the programme demonstrates the government’s continuous commitment to supporting students from low and middle-income families.

“This initiative is not merely an act of charity, but a symbol of love and solidarity among our community. Every child deserves equal educational opportunities, regardless of their background,” she said.

The programme saw 100 secondary school students from nine local schools each receiving a financial contribution of RM500, sponsored by ERM Schools Foundation, with the cooperation of the Federal Territory Education Department (JPWPKL), PPD Bangsar & Pudu, government agencies, and community partners.

Dr Wan Azizah expressed appreciation to all parties involved, particularly the corporate contributors, educators, and volunteers who have continuously supported education-focused efforts in Bandar Tun Razak.

She revealed that there are 12,297 students enrolled in mainstream secondary schools in the constituency, excluding those in boarding and religious schools.
Of these, approximately 1,800 students are identified as being in need of educational assistance.

“This figure reminds us that we must ensure no student is left behind due to financial hardship. Education is not just a pathway to success, but a lifeline to lift families out of poverty,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah also highlighted several ongoing community and CSR initiatives under the Ihsan Madani framework, including:

Community Feeding & Urban Farming Programme – addressing child malnutrition and promoting urban agriculture at PPR Desa Tun Razak.

Sunathon Programme – offering free circumcision services for children from B40 families during school holidays.

Women’s Health & Hygiene Awareness Campaign – distributing personal care kits to female secondary students.

Back to School Programme – providing school supplies to underprivileged children.

Student Excellence Awards 2025 – scheduled for November 2, where 500 students will be honoured for outstanding academic, co-curricular, and moral achievements.

“These initiatives prove that community development does not rely solely on the government. It is built through strong collaboration between the public sector, private entities, and the people,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah urged students to make the best use of the assistance received and to view it as motivation to excel and contribute back to society.

“Let us continue to uphold the spirit of Ihsan Madani — to care, to learn, and to nurture compassion among one another. Together, we can make Bandar Tun Razak a model constituency that is progressive, people-centric, and grounded in humanity,” she added.

The event was attended by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, Datuk Azman Haji Abidin, political secretary to the Prime Minister, ERM Schools Foundation representatives, education officers, local community leaders, and students’ families.
