Malaysia’s 69th National Day celebrated in New York with Malaysian flavours and culture

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s 69th National Day was celebrated in New York with a reception bringing together ambassadors, consuls general, members of the United Nations Secretariat and friends of Malaysia.

Hosted by the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations, the reception provided an opportunity for the international diplomatic community to join Malaysians in commemorating the country’s National Day.

Guests were treated to an array of Malaysian favourites, including nasi lemak, satay, roti canai, teh tarik and traditional kuih-muih, showcasing the country’s rich culinary heritage.

Adding to the festive atmosphere was a spirited kompang performance, bringing a distinctive touch of Malaysian culture to the heart of New York.

The celebration also served as a platform to strengthen friendships and foster closer ties between Malaysia and members of the international community.

The Permanent Mission expressed its appreciation to all guests and friends of Malaysia who joined the celebration.

The reception concluded on a patriotic note, with the Malaysian spirit of unity and pride echoing thousands of kilometres from home.
