ISTANBUL: Explosions have been reported in several areas of Iran late on Monday as the United States (US) launched another series of strikes against the country, reported Anadolu Agency, citing Iranian media.
State broadcaster IRIB reported an explosion in Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province in southern Iran.
Fars News Agency reported that blast sounds were heard in the airspace of Qeshm Island and nearby waters, while another explosion was reported in Sirik, also in Hormozgan.
Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, reported an explosion in Shiraz, Fars province in the south of the country.
According to the agency, 14 explosions were heard in the airspace of the cities of Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran over the past few hours.
Mehr News Agency reported that air defence systems were heard operating near the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran.
Mehr also reported two explosions in the city of Isfahan in central Iran.
However, Iranian media later quoted the Deputy Governor of Isfahan Province for security and law enforcement affairs as denying any enemy attacks or explosions in the region.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had launched another series of strikes against Iran under the orders of the supreme commander, with the operation aimed at further degrading Iran’s military capabilities used to attack merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
