Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Under Iran’s Control – Leader’s Adviser

TEHRAN: A senior adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the Strait of Hormuz has always been and will always remain Iran’s, while rejecting United States (US) President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the strategic waterway, reported the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

In an interview with Al Mayadeen, Mohammad Mokhber said Iran is the only party that will continue to determine how the waterway is managed.

“We have laws related to this matter in the Islamic Consultative Assembly and there are also decisions made by the Leader regarding the Strait of Hormuz,” said Mokhber.

He said the Strait of Hormuz will be managed entirely according to the regulations set by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Mokhber dismissed Trump’s statement as “illogical, ineffective and futile” while saying the statement will not have any effect.

“We are fully prepared; we do not want war, but we are always ready to defend the country,” he said.
